 Nick Lachey proposed to Vanessa Minnillo last November after dating for four years, and he's pleased with their wedding preparations so far.

He said: "We're working on it. We're getting there slowly but surely…we're inching our way along."

Speaking at a swim party hosted by Sports Illustrated at Vanity Nightclub in Las Vegas, the former reality TV star -- who divorced Jessica Simpson in 2005 after three years of marriage -- also revealed he only has eyes for his bride-to-be.

He told E! Online: "It's a look, no touch party for me so I'm just gonna enjoy it from afar.

"Vanessa looks as good if not better than any of the models you see behind me in a swimsuit."

Earlier this month, Nick, 37, told of how their engagement was part of a "carefully calculated plan" because he didn't want to fail in his proposal to the 30-year-old beauty.

He explained: "You gotta take it in stages. If you set the bar too high then you set yourself up for failure. This was a carefully calculated plan. You have to set the romance but you have to take it in phases. This was phase one."

With her athletic prowess being put on full display, Vanessa Minnillo partook in the Under Armour Charged Cotton Launch Event at Chelsea Piers in New York City on Tuesday (February 1).

Looking sporty in an Under Armour Charged Cotton yellow hoodie, pink tee and black leggings, the recently engaged beauty joined up with celebrity trainer and Under Armour ambassador, Gunnar Peterson, while running through a full gammut of strenuous exercises.


During the course of her visit, Miss Minnillo was asked about her Super Bowl plans - to which she revealed that this will be the first year in which she and fiance Nick Lachey will not be attending the big game.

Opting to take in the action between the Steelers and the Packers on the west coast, the former Miss Teen USA told that they'll instead be having a party at their home in Los Angeles at which she plans to serve up her always-tasty seven layer bean dip.

Since announcing their engagement three months ago, Vanessa Minnillo says she and Nick Lachey haven’t set a wedding date yet – and they aren’t in any hurry to.

We’re enjoying being engaged. Everyone rushes to the next step, and I like this step.”

It seems that Vanessa is too busy with work to even think about setting a date – she’s scheduled for appearances on several TV shows coming up: Hawaii Five-O, CSI: New York, and 30 Rock, to name just a few.

“It’s been a busy time, and it’s a fun time. To be standing on the street in Manhattan with Tina Fey and Elizabeth Banks is pretty cool. This is work, but this is pretty cool. I just really want to be their best friends.”

She did share that the one thing she’s most looking forward to about getting married:

“the first time that Nick will see me come down the aisle,”

Nick Lachey and Vanessa Minnillo have landed a role on the small screen that involves more than just hosting.

The engaged couple has been cast on Hawaii Five-0, the highest-rated new show of the season.

According to CBS sources, Nick Lachey and Vanessa Minnillo will appear on a February episode of the drama. Vanessa Minnillo will portray a character named Susan who works as a deckhand on a cruise boat that's taken hostage. Nick Lachey will be her fiance.

It sounds like Nick Lachey is being completely honest about his upcoming wedding to longtime girlfriend Vanessa Minnillo.

“I want it to be about her,” Lachey tells PEOPLE. “Any guy will tell you that it’s probably more about the bride than the groom. It’s just about celebrating your love for each other.”

He said they aren’t in the planning stages yet, but it sounds like Nick’s pretty much going to leave that to Vanessa. But don’t take that as a sign he doesn’t love her.

“She’s my soulmate in every way,” he gushes. “She gets me, I get her. We enjoy a lot of the same things and we enjoy each other’s company.”

Awww… I’m glad these two hung in there and are getting married . it can’t have been easy for Nick after his divorce from Jessica Simpson.

Rumors quickly circulated that she was “flipping out” when ex husband Nick Lachey proposed to fiancée Vanessa Minnillo last week, but Jessica Simpson recently cleared the air on Ryan Seacrest’s radio show.

On Thursday morning (November 11), the “Come On Over” singer explained, "I am extremely, extremely happy for him."


She added, "I don't know where all those rumors came from. My mom actually called me and said that everyone was saying that I was 'saddened.' I was just in complete shock. I couldn't be more happy for Nick.”

"Our relationship was over a really long time ago, and it would be nice if everyone could move on with us and really just celebrate the love between him and Vanessa [Minnillo]," she went on. "I do, and I really wish them nothing but the best."
