Lovely People's Lovely Shoes

After snapping up two pairs of shoes at Shoes for Lovely People's one-day sample sale yesterday, it's safe to say I don't need to buy any more summer shoes. The sale was weird, taking place largely in a hallway and smelling, oddly, of b.o. (nasty!). Or was it f.o.? On the plus side, there was cake. And broccoli. Eclectic! The sale started at 5:30 and was well underway by the time I strolled in a few minutes past 6. There wasn't a ton of merchandise, but I nevertheless managed to snag the following cute sandals:

Lovely People Mariane wedge in black, $40 at sale; $99.99 at Sears right now. I love the mix of patent leather and suede, and the contrast of the patent with the rope wedge. Four inches, and comfy, too!

I wasn't totally in love with these Fiona sandals, $40 at sale; $50 at Endless, in a bunch of colors. But one can never have enough summer sandals, especially ones with slight heels, and I love red shoes, and so: purchased. Yay!

Late to the Party: Cynthia Vincent for Target

Peeps, these Cynthia Vincent for Target shoes kinda rock. Looks like the black gladiator wedges sold out (boo), but I picked up a pair in brown at an upstate Target this past weekend. I am so glad Carl indulges my Target fixation. Anyway....

The straps on these gladiator wedges, $29.99, were kinda loose on my regular size, but a half-size down solved the problem. Yay!

I also tried on the strappy ring flats, $24.99, in a half-size up (which was actually fine), but the straps were flopping all around, so I passed. Maybe a half size down would fix it also? I might actually go for these in white, since I just bought yellow sandals.

And I'm digging the hot pink studded thongs, $24.99, though I'm wary of the toe strap. Seems like just ASKING for trouble.

Surprisingly, the tribal-print wedges, $29.99, are still available. Weird! They're so cute!

I'm gonna hit the Matt Bernson sample sale on Friday, and if I STILL need sandals, maybe I'll order up some of Cynthia's and hope for a good fit.

Then all I'll need is some NICE GODDAMN WEATHER. Seriously, why so winter???

Hot Spring Trend (In My Mind): Boca Bubbe Sandals

($83, Office.co.uk)
I'm thinking this summer I'm gonna go full-blown Boca Bubbe. And these delightfully tacky metallic sandals are a step in the right direction, nu? And look at you. You should eat!

Shoe Should: F-Troupe's Plastic Heart Shoes

Oh F-Troupe. I surrender.

($123, F-Troupe)
And those little hearts? They're leather. LEATHA!

I hereby dedicate this post and my burning desire to own these F-Troupe sandals to the great Juice Newton, who not only picked the coolest stage name ever but also went to my high school.

Even More Peacock Pretties: Dresses, Hair Pieces & More Peacock Plumed And Feathery Accessories I Crave (Including a Peacock Lamp, Even!)

I continue to adore these feathery treasures derived, inspired and sometimes taken directly from the lovely peacock -- and even a few from pheasants! Read on, won't you?

($128, Orion, Asos)
So sweet. Orion's a British label, and Modcloth sells a lot of their fun, flirty retro-inspired dresses, so go do that.

($398, Hayden-Harnett)
Oh Hayden-Harnett. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. This ikat print dress isn't peacocky per se, but the colors are right there. And looooooky close -- leather trim says "Why yes, I will make charming conversation with you at this cocktail party, but I will also swear like a cot-damt sailor once I get a few old fashioneds in me!"

($29, Look From London, Asos)
Bold but would look really cute with like a dark denim mini and maybe a slender black cardi? Because sometimes you CAN mix brown and black!

($39, Bakers)
The "Reese" sandal from Bakers is a leeeeetle much of a much, but I still really like 'em. I saw a girl wearing them and they're MUCH cuter "in action," if you will. Also, this COULD be the world's FIRST gladiator peacock sandal!!!

($12.99, Honeydew, Modcloth)
If it seems like I have a serious bone for Modcloth, it's because I do. And it's so hard to find undies that straddle the fine line between boyshorts and bikinis. These seem to do the trick!

Brown's usually one of my least favorite colors, but the real peacock feathers on this brown satin clutch have me rethinking that.

($48, Pluma)
This headpiece is made of PHEASANT feathers, which totally flips the script on peacock feathers, changes the game, and takes this shit to a whole new level, to use three cliches in ONE sentence. I don't know that I can pull off headpieces -- actually wait. I KNOW I can, I just basically lack the hairstyling skills. But if I DID have those skills, I THINK I could rock this. I'd love to buy it, but I also know my cat would probably discover it and rekill it. That dick. Anyway, check out the rest of Pluma's gorgeous handmade feather headbands. They're all pheasant (I think), and they're all quite reasonably priced for such prettiness.

($25, Portobello, Etsy)
Love this little peacock headpiece too. A little more subtle.

Y'all, I even found peacock housewares, like this circle rug. I did, y'all! I really truly dit!

($302, Oasis, Neiman Marcus)
Someday, I will have an entire house filled with nothing but peacock lamps with orange lamp shades.

($16.90, Tracy Porter, Neiman Marcus)
One of my other MANY houses will be filled with obscenely affordable handpainted peacock salt and pepper shakers, like so.

+ The evolution of my rich peacock fashion lust...

Okay. I'm flying back from Vegas ANY minute now. I've survived nearly four hours and several crappy sandwiches. Gah! Can't wait to get back to the BK! And I DO NOT mean Burger King, people! (Though I would rip off someone's press-on nails right now for some Taco Bell.)

Jelly Flip-Flops: Rad or Bad?

($60, Kate Spade, Bloomingdale's)
Pretty bad, right? They're the kind of thing you'd buy on vacation at a beach general store out of desperation.

($10, Old Navy)
The red ones are a bit much, but these actually aren't too bad in grey -- especially for $10. They're worlds better than these golden caged monstrosities.

Footwear Friday

Today I have the attention span of a melting ice. Or something. Anyway, I'm totes shoegasming over the following:
($355, Martin Margiela, Barneys)
I'm such a hypocrite, because I'm shoegasming over these Martin Margiela platforms. Helloooo -- the platforms are LUCITE, as better demonstrated here:

As seen on MonaMoore.com.

($290, Martin Margiela, Barneys)

($375, Martin Margiela, MonaMoore.com)
See, here I am again, hypocriting all over the place, since I normally hate T-straps. But I love these, and fortunately I have a very similar pair of Repettos that I got at Steven Alan for a wackataculous $35!

($242, Pierre Hardy, Alohahag.com)
These are just outstanding. I'd probably wear them every day for a month straight if I owned 'em. But I may just settle for buying these which I've had my eye on for months now:

($41, Jeffrey Campbell, Lulusfashionlounge.com)

Oh yeah, check out some more of Martin Margiela's rad designs here.

($306, Dries Van Noten, MonaMoore.com)
I'd even wear these with my pajamas.

($49.50, Nicole Ritter, Lulusfashionlounge.com)
It turns out that my cohort blogged about these ages ago. For once, we agree! (More disagreement to come as we're about to go head-to-head on a 'Binge -- stay tuned.) These also remind me of previously blogged-about Chie Maharas and F-Troupe.

Finally, and not related to footwear, I like this bag:
($30, Rampage, eBay)
Weeeee! Summer stripes!

Peace.

Chie Mahara Shoes, Et Al

I am seeing nothin' but Chie Mahara shoes lately. And I'm lovin' about 90% of 'em.
They look so well made, and they're allegedly really comfz.

Here goes:

($154, Chie Mahara, Saks)
One of the best pairs of neutral heels I've seen in a montha Sundays, as "we" say in the "South." I might really truly rethink my no ankle straps personal policy.

($310, Chie Mahara, Sodafine.com)
Love the 1940s-esqueness!

($289, Chie Mahara, Pedshoes.com)
Probably my fave of all. Like walking on sunshine! Weeee!

($162, Chie Mahara, Jildorshoes.com)
Swooooony McSwoooonerson!

($310, Chie Mahara, Pedshoes.com)
Chie Mahara, are you trying to seduce me?

($297, Chie Mahara, SaviniShoes.com)
I'm yours! I love the selection here.

($297, Chie Mahara, Savinishoes.com)
Oh, behave!

($314, Chie Mahara, Haloshoes.com)
Unbelieveabley gorge.

($325, Chie Mahara, 4SpoiledMe.com)
A tiny bit whack, but also fairly rad.

($219, twenty two shoes)
I love twenty two shoes for similar reasons. Hand-made like woah.

($209, twenty two shoes)
The brown is beautiful too.

($66, F-Troupe, OakNYC.com)
Totes sophisticado!

($212, Marc By Marc Jacobs, Jildorshoes.com)
OMG. WANT WANT WANT WANT. And look at the pic of MJ -- nice, normal MJ! Not scary manorexic MJ!

($45, Nicole, OakNYC.com)
Quite cute, and not unreasonably high for a wedge. And probably the most affordable item I've ever seen at Oak.

($99, Tracy Reese, Anthropologie)
You only live once. Why not own a pair of ocelet pumps?... I guess...

($48, Urban Outfitters)
Damn you, UO! Keep reeling me back in!

And now, here it is, folks, your moment of morts:
(Approx $111 USD, Irregular Choice (who else?), Shoe-shop.com)
Um, exactly HOW did this get past the brainstorming phase and into development?

The Horror!

Here's a bunch of really ugly shit for you to consume. Or not.

($178, BCBG Max Azria, Nordstrom.com)
Why?? This looks like a roll of toilet paper that got shredded in a fan.

(Top $32; Dress $68, Necessary Objects, Macys.com)
Separately they're bad enough, but together, it's like a head-to-toe crap showcase.

($19.95, JS, Amazon)
How did this get past Standards? Check out some of their other awful shlock.

($149, Frye, Amazon)
Just grody.

(Apprx $107 USD, Irregular Choice, Schuh.co.uk)
Shoewawa covered these. Eeek!! That is some DAMN strong stuff those IC peeps are smoking. Remember kids: crack kills. Or at least results in some positively Fug City footwear.

(Apprx $127, Irregular Choice, Schuh.co.uk)
See, here is exactly why you should not allow your three-year-old access to fabric scraps, school glue and some spare pumps. Of course, you could always carry it with your Louis Vuitton Tribute Patchwork Bag.

(Apprx $99 USD, Irregular Choice, Schuh.co.uk)
What. The. Fu....??? Apparently Irregular Choice is even more irregular in the UK. They have some horbs offerings here in the States but nowhere NEAR as bad as abroad. They just get worse and worse and worse.

But not as worse/t as...

($62, Sugar, Zappos)
Just... wow. So many awful elements all combined into one Super Awful Shoe. Weep.
