Bought these Steve Madden "Skiip" cut out flats on super sale in-store the other day. Also got them in black. Since I'm vehemently opposed to flip-flops and most sandals, these will make a great alternative and a nice change of pace to when I get temporarily sick of ballet flats.

Ooh, so I went to the Rogan for Target media event at Barney's the other night. Like the collaboration itself, it was... weird. I mean... it's Target stuff... at Barney's... (more on that weirdness at WWD), and aside from the few animal graphic t-shirts that looked like H&M fare
and other animal print stuff that I didn't love, there were some good, basic safari-style pieces, and some simple yet sophisticated bits, like the plaid linen jumper above. I didn't get that, but I did get the plaid linen top:

Oh, and I saw Gregory Rogan at the event. He was cute. Fashionindie has an interview with him. And I saw Waris Ahluwalia and Simon Doonan, who could fit in the above model's pocket. A Few Fun, Affordable Spring Picks

For a minute there, I was like, maybe that post title could be a palindrome. Then I was like... fuck it. It's late. So here are the cute and affordable items, in descending order of cost:

From the new Kate Moss Topshop collection. Now, honestly, I wasn't blown away by her initial offering. But I love this. I'd love it even more if it didn't have the little ruffle at the waist, but we know ruffles are quite in. Even if they're definitely not universally flattering. Still, I love the embroidered detail and the simple colors.

I wouldn't wear all of 80%20 designer Ce Ce Chin's shoes, but I love the ideas and inspiration behind them. And I am totes enamored of these robin's egg blue punk loafers -- also available in "grape" (hee!) and green.

Two cute new suits from Old Navy. They both hit stores April 1. The golden metallic one is a BIT American Apparel (in the bad way), except that it isn't cut below one's crotch. It also HAS a crotch, so that's good. Anyway, metallic definitely has its place on the beach (though it may be its only place I think it's okay in non-accessories form), so I endorse this suit, but the brown one is even better.

Nutty for Neutrals!

Breaking: I have rejected the previously blogged-about Aerosoles Teal Estate wedges as too weird in the wedge. You can quote me on that. I'm now pondering the Chrome Body in versatile tan. While I wring my hands, I also searched out some other options for a nice tan shoe that will get a lot of summer wear. I just can't get enough shoes, people!



I am really pondering these Nicole Goblet slingbacks with a 3/4" heel, $73.95. My tan flats from last summer are a teensy bit effed up at this point. Why oh why didn't I buy five pairs of Target's Cherokee flats instead of just two?



Also really digging these Progetto Glam twisty flats with a slight heel, $98.



My problem is that I can't decide if I want a lovely heel or a more walkable lower heel. Cause let's face it: Higher is always cuter. Dammit. Nicole Ritter sandal, on sale for $59.99.



Nicole Lotus slingback wedge, $74. Yum!



Oxitaly round-toe slingback, $144. I heart round toes so much.



Dr. Scholl's Sideshow strappy heels. Four inches' worth. Not sure how I feel about the treading on the bottom. $83.95.



What about when Marc does it? Marc by Marc Jacobs heels, $203.00. Not really feeling these, because....



...Frye totally does it better. Minus the treads. Frye Iris peep-toe heels, $140.



Okay, I know these are technically not neutrals, but I love them so! Natural Comfort TM93 T-strap wedges with adorable tear-shaped cutouts, $100.95. Also comes in gorgeous teal at Nordstrom.



Speaking of teal, I love the weirdo color accent on these Faryl Robin Coy chunky heels, $157.95.



I guess, in the end, the practical solution is to go for the practical shoe: Heel no higher than two and a half inches (and preferably lower). Tops in this category is this Camper-esque Naturalizer Afternoon sandal, $60. What do you think? I liked their simplicity at first, but now I suspect they're just dowdy.



What about the real Camper? It too seems a little too simple, somehow, but I bet it's very comfortable. Camper Helena slingback, $135.
