Adding to the long list of stars in tinsel town with a social streak is actress Mahima Chowdhury, who was recently in the capital city, to promote children’s education.
The actress, who has received critical acclaim for her performance in ‘Hope and a little sugar’, actively participated in the Global Campaign for Education.
During the event, the ‘Pardes’ girl seemed very happy while interacting with underprivileged children, and shouting slogans with them.
“Education is the key to opening so many other locks in the society. One is doing away with poverty, one is the gender difference, we may not experience so much in the cities but it is so rampant in the villages,” Mahima said.
“They don’t think that a girl child needs any education……And me being a woman and having a daughter I can’t think of any other girl child being denied that,” she added.
Mahima also took keen interest in the myriad activities performed by the children during the event.
She also expressed her love for children and the satisfaction of being a mother in real life.
“It’s a great experience and I recommend it to everyone. Motherhood is an experience that I can’t equate to any other. Except probably having my own mother in my life you know, that is the closest,” she said.
